Meta, parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, has responded to an article from the Wall Street Journal from Friday, which claimed that the social media giant struggled to remove child predators, child exploitation, and content from its platforms.
The Journal reported that despite Meta’s June task force to ensure child safety, “Instagram algorithms still connected a web devoted accounts dedicated to the creation, purchase, and trading of underage sex content.”
Los Angeles authorities, who have struggled to address the homelessness crisis for years in the city, urged “unhoused individuals” to “come in” on Friday. They said that they believe a serial killer has been loose and is targeting people sleeping outdoors alone.
According to the authorities, three shootings occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, Monday morning, and Wednesday morning. One victim was shot on a couch in a back alley. One victim was shot while asleep on the sidewalk. The third victim was pushing a shopping cart and stopped near an outdoor power outlet, and he was killed.
